The Duffel Bag - The Best Luggage Choice

This August my family is heading to Arizona to hike to and camp at, the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  When single, several friends and I did the same excursion, so we thought it would be fun to do it again with our kids and spouses 20 years later. We are all very excited about the trip however there is one small dilemma; how to get all the gear to the Grand Canyon without breaking the bank on airline baggage fees?

Several suggestions have been made. Mail the gear ahead of time, after checking into this, the cost of shipping the supplies will not be much cheaper.  Borrow all the gear from one of my friend’s friend currently living in Phoenix, this is great but there are 18 of us going?  Purchase new gear in Arizona; unfortunately we do not have a money tree growing in our backyard. Thus, the bottom line, bring the bare minimum and choose the right piece of luggage!

The best piece of luggage for this type of trip, a duffel bag!  Duffel bags certainly offer the most versatile options when packing clothes, sleeping bags, cooking gear, tents, etc.

Although it will be a very difficult trip to pack for, keeping both the necessities and a budget in mind; a well designed duffel will certainly help achieve the goal of getting everything to Arizona without breaking the bank!  If anyone out there has a better suggestion, please let me know otherwise I think I’ll check out the great selection of duffels now on sale at Irv’s Luggage!
